Corporate Event Photography

Cape Homemakers Expo

Corporate Event Photography can sometimes be challenging.  We mostly work with people, and document moments.  So it’s quite a different mindset to find a unique way of telling story about inanimate objects.

You look at décor, plumbing, kitchen appliances and more, and you try to make something artistic out of them.  It’s not always easy.  And this year, it was even more difficult than usual.  On the second day of shooting, I broke a bone in my foot.  I still managed to get through the day, but how grateful I am that Andre and I are not just husband and wife, but that we are also a team.  We can honestly say that this was a total team effort!

But enough of that, and more about this fabulous event.  The Cape Homemakers Expo is an annual event that takes place in the Cape Town International Convention Centre.   It’s great for ideas on home improvement, décor and design.   It’s an honour for us to say that we have been photographing it for a number of years now.  It’s so interesting to see how it has evolved since we started.  There is really something for everyone!

If you were looking  at extending your outdoor living space, the Outdoor Living area had everything from paving and patio solutions to state of the art braai equipment and interesting garden features.  Right next door, the D’Vine Life area offered many delicacies to fuel the energy for a walk around the Expo.

The Coffee Lovers Theatre was a hit once again, with ongoing Barista, coffee tasting and Latte Art competitions.

A special area this year was the Design Challenge.  Two design teams battled it out to create the ultimate interior.   Visitors were able to vote for their favourite team and stood the chance of winning the furniture and décor in both  the rooms.

The Live by Design area is the décor part of the Expo, and always a favourite to photograph because of the pretty details.  From lighting, to art and textile, and innovative functional items, it’s all there.

The Tuis/Home Theatre is a highlight each year.  From tastings and baking to easy DIY and make-over projects;  there always seemed to be a captured crowd.

In between these main feature areas there was so much more to see.  And if you were feeling a little tired, there were a number of restaurants to catch your breath and have something to eat or drink.

Thank you to the Cape Homemakers Team for trusting us to capture your 2016 memories through this Corporate Event Photography opportunity.

Here’s the Expo through our eyes!
